What's new for CIC members?

This is our monthly update for CIC members alerting you to new resources on the cicollective.com website.

New in e-books is the Living in Limbo resource, for those times when it seems like you’re stuck waiting, perhaps waiting for visas, or head office approval.  That time of uncertainty can be hard to manage.  This short e-book gives you some strategies and things to think about.  We’ve saved it in ‘Leave Well’ but it may also be relevant at other points of your assignment, such as when you are waiting for the next move!

Happy Chinese New Year from Sydney Australia!

Chinese families around the world are beginning to prepare or are travelling home for the Chinese New Year celebrations.  This year (the Year of the Dragon) the New Year begins on January 23rd and ends on 9 February 2013.  The New Year celebration is known as the Spring Festival and officially lasts for 14 days ending with the Lantern festival.

How important is travel etiquette?

When you are travelling the world or dealing with people from different cultures, how important is travel etiquette really?  Should we memorize lists for different cultures of dos and don’ts?  Will potential relationships be destroyed if we point inappropriately, use a wrong hand gesture or touch things with our unclean feet, or left hand?
